The Island is accessed by a regular short boat ride for about 5 minutes from Park Offices, on the mainland (next to Hotel Tilapia).

Saanane Island offers breathtaking views and spectacular sights of the surrounding islands, the lake, greenery and interesting rock formations.

It is an ideal place for game viewing, bird watching, rock hiking (walking and hiking tracks are clearly marked), boat cruise, walking, picnics (there’s a particular area reserved for picnic), bush lunch, photographing/ filming, meditation and sport fishing.

Special occasions like weddings, engagement, team building, family day and birthdays can also be organized. Saanane Island has nice hiking trails and allows for close encounters with live animals such as impala, rock hyrax, vervet monkeys, zebras, and a variety of birds, lizards and reptiles.

The presence of “De-brazza’s Monkey” underscores its potential as the only Park in the country inhabiting the species.  Reptiles are also dominant; they include crocodiles, monitor lizards, agama lizards, tortoises, snakes particularly Python.

The aquatic part of the Park inhabits a variety of fisheries, mainly Tilapia and Nile Perch.
